Wolfe Morrison, Clint Leitch, and Jethro Barks started a business 25 years ago: Fleurettes, a fine dining establishment on the northeastern outskirts of New Orleans, Louisiana, overlooking Lake Pontchartrain. For all this time, they have kept up that false front as a real business. But beneath the restaurant runs dungeons they added, digging and stocking over the years, for the express purpose of seeking Ascension through the torments of others. Especially beautiful young women.

Their special "VIP" guests of late include the entire varsity cheerleading squad from the University of New Orleans (franchise moniker: the Pirates). Most of these girls are juniors and seniors but a couple talented freshmen and sophomores made the cut. All of these girls, having gone missing without a trace, are suspected victims of the human slave trade, perhaps into the Caribbean, perhaps down to Mexico. Either way, no one's looking at the Fleurettes.

Well, except one group. Unfortunately for the boys, they snagged ten girls who had already been "claimed". A cabal of enterprising Nephandi, experimenting with "shock Awakenings" to create dark soldiers of Descension, "tagged and released" the squad after subjecting them to brainwashing agonies that none of them remember (memories erased). But the Acharne triggered an early break-down of those firewalls. While the girls haven't remembered their Nephandi tormentors, the latent psychic talents with which they were endowed have begun to manifest, and draw the dark ones to where they are kept prisoner...
